Born in Guangzhou, China, Kelly Lin is a Chinese-Canadian conductor currently resides in Montréal, Québec. Praised for her magnetic, captivating, and inspiring conducting style, Lin always brings spirit and warmth to her interpretations. An advocate for under-represented voice in classical music,
Lin is the founder and artistic director of Ensemble Lagom. As the recipient of the Hnatyshyn Foundation – Christa and Franz-Paul Decker Fellowship in Conducting, Lin studies orchestral conducting at the Schulich School of Music where her mentors include Alexis Hauser and Guillaume Bourgogne.
Lin holds a bachelor and master’s degree in piano performance from McGill University where her mentors include Sara Laimon and Marina Mdivani. She is the recipient of numerous scholarships, including full scholarship from McGill University. Lin has also participated in masterclasses with Rafael Payare, Giuseppe Montesano, and Kirk Trevor in Canada, Hungary, and the United States.
Among her recent engagements include conducting the McGill Symphony Orchestra, McGill Beethoven Orchestra, McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble, McGill Schoenberg Ensemble, Trumpetist Peixiang Li’s doctoral recital, and Ensemble Lagom. Lin excels in a wide variety of repertoires ranging from classical to contemporary.
